Sandtorgholmen were the first to get a license to sell their own wine and spirits (and brew themselves) in Sørfylket, in 1770. Naturally, this proved a huge magnet and Sandtorgholmen soon became an important centre for the sailing ships trading up and down the coast. We also have Northern Norway’s oldest wine cellar of its kind, from this era. It is called “Malaga”, because most of the wine was bought from the Malaga district in Spain; it was shipped to Bjorgvin in casks, and further up here to be bottled. Sandtorgholmen delivered mixed wine to seven parishes.
Spend an evening amongst friends in our historic wine cellar where you’ll be served fine wine and a selection of our very own Norwegian Tapas.
